NEWSLETTER:OFF Newsletter #7Jul 07, 2025

It’s been a little over a month since we announced OFF’s digital release date—August 15—and the team has spent that time hard at work on lots of polish and detail work that we think will show through in the finished game.
Your feedback on the Prologue we released for Steam Next Fest has been a huge help for the development team during that process, both in finding issues to address and prioritizing them. With the release date approaching, we plan to stop offering the demo beginning July 31, rather than diverting dev time to keep it up to date with the final version of the game. Your saves will still transfer over, but a lot has changed! We hope you give Zone 1 another spin when the game is released, so you can see all the balance and polish updates the team has made with your help. (For more on the Prologue and how we’re using your feedback, you can read Mortis Ghost’s blog post.)

You can see two updates made based on user feedback in this brief gif of the Dedan fight. 1: The crit animation now follows you through the menu, to suggest that you can use your incoming critical hit to power up any menu option, not just Attack. 2: Dedan’s powerful Hour Hand and Half Past attacks have always happened at set intervals, but the game never made the cadence of the fight legible to players. A ticking clock now lets you know how much time you have until another super-move arrives.
Localization work has continued, too; as translations arrive from each of our localizers, we’ve been working to make sure the game looks right in every language. Since Japanese requires more bespoke text-box work it won’t be ready right away, but work on German, Italian, and Spanish is nearly complete.

Already you can learn about proper metal-extraction techniques in multiple new languages
Locking in the digital release date of the game means we’ve been able to set up our timeline for everything downstream of that, especially the physical release. Based on our August 15 digital release, we’re planning for a street date in Q1 2026, which should also be when your standard and Bad Human Edition preorders arrive. (If you’ve moved since preordering the game, don’t worry—we’ll be conducting an address check before the games arrive at our office to make sure they end up in the right place.)
One other piece of feedback we’ve been able to act on isn’t related to the Prologue—we’ve seen all the requests, and we’re currently looking into doing everything we’ll need to make an EU release of the Bad Human Edition of the game possible. Watch for more information in an upcoming newsletter.

If you’re following OFF on social media you already know whether that’s Cob or not… but since we don’t want to tease our newsletter subscribers I will say that the answer is “Oh, no you’re not. You’re someone else.”
Finally, last month was also exciting for the team because we got to see our first wave of OFF merch ship out. It was great to see so many photos of the Judge plush out in the wild. (We were glad that so many of you noticed it had an extra meow, too.) There’s another wave of OFF merchandise in the design and pre-production phase right now, for after the game is released; check back in November to see what’s coming.
